2 years after a season ending injury in Les Gets, Marine Cabirou is back!

Les Gets, France, September 9th. Great week, great races, greater victory! Marine has been building speed little by little all season. After a complicated few months returning from various injuries, the young Frenchwoman has been building confidence and speed race after race, culminating in her finding her very best form this past weekend in Les Gets.

It is therefore on the ultra-technical track in Les Gets, a terrain she particularly likes that Marine Cabirou took this long-awaited 6th victory. We all knew the result was on the way, but the fashion in which she took the win was incredible.

Having already won five World Cups in 2019 and 2020, Marine’s grit and determination after a couple years of setbacks makes this victory on home soil even sweeter.

The whole team was adorned with new kit and fresh paint jobs for Les Gets.

After a good qualification and semi-final (2nd each time), Marine started with the bit between her teeth, she left the stands in the same state of mind as for her first victory at Val Di Sole in 2019.

Always easy to say afterwards, but we were sure she was going for a win!

Green light at the first split, then two seconds ahead at the second, three seconds… finally almost a four second lead at the finish – classic Marine Cabirou.

Marine won with style and engagement, beating the best time of the week. Bravo Marine, you gave us all the buzz we were looking for, we can’t wait to feel that again.

“Les Gets is always a special, almost home soil, crazy crowds, you can always expect great moments! I got injured here in 2021 and after a solid qualification, I knew this was in the past giving me the confidence to do well on my favotire track. Stoked with the result, so happy with the win!”

On the men’s side, the team was in full force with Brendan Fairclough, Dean Lucas, Gonçalo Bandeira and, of course, Dylan Levesque author of a superb sixth place, 2/10th from the podium in Loudenvielle last week.
The Les Gets track is gnarly, fast as hell with lots of roots, holes, dusty and without anywhere to rest. The right settings where hard to find!
Everyone was strugling and finding the right compromise was a real challenge.
It was evident that we were not too far from that good balance, Dylan and Goncalo qualified very well, seventh and ninth respectively!

For the semi-final Dylan was still able to express himself with a very good seventh place. The semi was not very successful for Gonçalo, he crashed at the top, too bad, that boy is so fast!
Dean Lucas did a good qualification once again, seems his mind if now freed after announcing his retirement at the end of the season. He enjoyed the semi-final ride but struggled to find the right pace.

In the men’s final, that ended by a magnificent victory for Benoit Coulanges, Dylan Levesque had to find energy in his reserves and bring out all his talent to get close to top 10, almost a victory in such a gnarly track where no mistakes have to be made.

Positions raised
As last weekend, the entire team finished in fourth position out of the podium for one point… and moved up seven places at the overall (7th); Marine is now third at overall and Dylan consolidate his 15th rank, well done!

What a great moment we had, everyone is now looking forward to racing in SnowShoe in the United States, then at Mont Sainte-Anne in Quebec for the two North American rounds.
Next stop on September 30 for the seventh round in West Virginia!
