| Snowshoe, United States of America, September 30th. Great week, great races, greater victory! Marine has been building speed little by little all season. After a complicated few months returning from various injuries, the young Frenchwoman has been building confidence and speed race after race, culminating in her finding her very best form the past two races, first in Les Gets and now again with a win in Snowshoe. Marine has had success on the track in Snowshoe before, winning back in 2019. The way she tackled this technical track all week, building race pace little by little was great to watch, she’s truly back on top form. This was her second World Cup Win of the year, taking her career total to 7 World Cups. With one more race on the calendar for the year, Marine is as hungry as ever. |
Training was well under way when we had our first alert as our new comer Goncalo Bandeira had a big crash at high speed and broke his foot (two metacarpal bones)! Too bad as the man is fast as hell and had high hopes for the last two races…
The very next day, the track was evolving for the better, grip was back and riders’ speed was increasing. Dean Lucas was up to race speed when he crashed badly, head hitting a tree, knocking him out. Thanks to the medical staff on site that managed him pretty well, we were really worried with the initial diagnosis, spinal injuries are stressful!
Fortunately, Dean is healing well, although he did not plan to end his racing career this way, he is ok and will fly back home soon.

Saturday, race day, three riders down, Marine and Dylan were ready to fight. The sun was back and the track was drying slowly, this was good for confidence. The Semifinal went fine for Marine, she managed to get second spot, a bit cooked but ready for the final. Dylan struggled a bit in semifinals, a good but safe run, he gets his slot for final.
Marine Cabirou was motivated as hell, although she was going for a good run you never hide/forget what happened, injuries, a dangerous track, racing pressure… Marine is always good in such conditions. After a rather slow start (1.5sec back at first split !) she rode smoothly, on her lines, she knows that track by heart, she got the win in 2019… she came back in green after three solid technical sections where she got the best time at each split.
Final jump, Marine knows she has to pedal hard, she does it, gives it all, look at the time… 1st !!!
This one is good!
No time for rest, the men’s Elite race was on shortly thereafter. Dylan Levesque started early given his semifinal. Solid run, smooth, focused on his lines, all splits appear in green, final rush, again he knew pedalling was key, 3:14.1, hot seat where he stayed for a while, we knew that was close to a top 10 time… 15th, he’ll take it!
Podium time for Marine Cabirou, we follow her to celebrate and, cherry on the cake, discover SCOTT DH Factory received the team of the day award!
What a fantastic way to end a weekend full of up’s and down’s.
